🧵 Meet Remedios, the queen of fixes, played by Susana D.

‘Remedios, the queen of makeshift solutions’ is the name of the campaign launched by Save the Children, which represents the creativity forced by economic necessity in Spain, where people have to resort to ‘makeshift solutions’ to survive, such as wearing coats in winter instead of using heating.

Susana plays the character of ‘Remedios’, a resourceful and creative woman who solves all kinds of everyday problems in an economically difficult context. Remedios is that resourceful neighbour, the one with all the tricks, the one who always has an idea to get out of a tight spot. But even though it has become customary to use ingenuity in the face of difficulties, there are some things that should not be solved with makeshift solutions.

The campaign uses traditional aesthetics and a fresh rhythm to connect with Spanish social reality. The advert begins with the protagonist calm and attentive to the advice she is being given, but gradually picks up speed, reflecting a continuous struggle for survival symbolising imminent poverty.

Susana, with her acting skills, immediately captures the viewer's attention, drawing their curious gaze to follow the message that this audiovisual piece wants to convey to us until the end.

The campaign, whose slogan is ‘Getting by shouldn't be the solution’, seeks to highlight that, although ingenuity is a virtue, in many cases it becomes the only way to survive poverty, which should not be the case.
